Two Rev Up Strasburg grant recipients will hold ribbon cutting ceremonies today.
• Debbie Ritenour will hold a grand re-opening and ribbon cutting of Simply Divine Candles & Decor at 9:45 a.m. at her new location, 150 E. King St.
• Tammy Dellinger will hold a ribbon cutting for Crossfit Devil’s Backbone at 10 a.m. at 411 E. King St., with light snacks afterward.
Elizabeth H. Cottrell has been elected chairman of the Board of Directors of First National Corporation and First Bank, its banking subsidiary.
Gerald F. “J.J.” Smith Jr. has been elected vice chairman and secretary of each board.
Cottrell has served on the board since 1992 and during her tenure served terms as chair of the Compensation and Governance Committee and the Trust Committee of both boards. Most recently she served as vice chairman and secretary of both boards.
Cottrell is owner of RiverwoodWriter LLC, which offers technical writing and editing, ghostwriting, social media and WordPress consulting services to small business clients.
A native Virginian, she has served on the boards of the Shenandoah Community Foundation, Shenandoah Memorial Hospital Foundation and the Moore Educational Trust. She also served for nine years on the Shenandoah County School Board. In 2009 she was the recipient of the Woodstock Rotary Club’s Joseph Clower Community Service Award recognizing local citizens who have lived lives of service to their communities.
Smith has served on the board since 2007. He is chairman, president and chief executive officer of Valley Proteins Inc., a rendering business headquartered in Winchester.
