Jennifer Carter has been appointed as the new director of the Northern Virginia 4-H Educational Center in Front Royal.

Jennifer Carter has been appointed as the new director of the Northern Virginia 4-H Educational Center in Front Royal.

A former 4-H member from New Jersey, she comes to the center after having served as associate director for continuing and professional education at Virginia Tech. There, she partnered with 4-H to design, develop and lead the Virginia Tech Maker Festival, which has been held the last two years at Virginia Tech’s Northern Virginia Center in Falls Church. She previously held positions with the Society for Science and the Public, Science Application International Corp. and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

She earned a master’s degree in national security and public safety from the University of New Haven and a master’s degree in science and technology studies from Virginia Tech. She also earned a bachelor’s degree in biology with a minor in animal studies from the University of Georgia. She is a certified Project Management Professional through The Project Management Institute and is working on her doctorate in science and technology studies at Virginia Tech.
