84 Lumber to add 100 new jobs in Stephenson
Gov. Terry McAuliffe’s office has announced that 84 Lumber, the country’s largest privately owned building material manufacturer, intends to invest $3.9 million to establish a manufacturing operation in Frederick County, resulting in 100 new jobs.
The operation will be under the name of 84 Components, 84 Lumber’s manufacturing division, according to a news release from the governor’s office.
Amy Smiley, director of marketing for 84 Lumber, said the plant will be located at 240 Yardmaster Court in Stephenson. A store is currently at that location and will be remodeled.
“It is a manufacturing plant,” Smiley stated in an email. “At this location, we’ll manufacture wood roof and floor trusses and wood wall panels for residential and commercial construction.”
She went on to explain the types of positions that will be available in the new plant.
“These will be mostly entry level production positions, including assemblers, sawyers and forklift operators,” she stated. “We’ll also be hiring people with experience in component design and/or production. We’re looking for hardworking individuals looking for a place to build a career. We want people to know that 84 Lumber is a destination for people who want to make an impact with their careers.”
Salaries will be commensurate with experience.
