I've always wanted to be a writer, and writing a column or a blog was an idea I'd floated several times but never got too stuck on because having something solid to say 52 (or more!) times a year seemed nearly impossible ... until now. I told my boss as soon as I came back to work from maternity leave that I now have an unlimited source of material.
That we started "That's Life" on May 10 -- a day after Mother's Day -- was no coincidence either. I sincerely hope you'll be able to relate to the stories I am going to share, whether you're going through it with me, or you did it all 50 years ago. I've really found so far that being a mother is such a universal thing, and I am going to talk more about that in my next column.
What were some of the defining moments for your transition to motherhood? Getting that first ultrasound - that positive pregnancy test? Picking out the nursery theme? Ultrasounds were definitely memory-makers for me. I might tell you more about that, sometime, too.
