Wilson College sophomore Tara Fields, a former Clarke County High School standout, has been selected as the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Softball Student-Athlete of the Week (April 25).
Fields helped the Phoenix compile a 3-1 record last week as she batted .769 with 10 hits, eight runs and 12 RBIs in 13 plate appearances. Among those hits were three triples and a double, and she had a pair of stolen bases.
In Wilson's doubleheader sweep of Gallaudet on April 20, Fields was 7-for-7 at the plate with six RBIs and five runs scored.
Fields, who plays center field and catcher for the Phoenix, is one of three former area prep standouts on the team. Fellow Clarke County product Brianna Smith is a sophomore catcher/infielder, while sophomore Nicole Musser (Sherando) is a pitcher and outfielder for the Phoenix.
Wilson is currently 18-8 overall and 18-2 in the NCAA Division III NEAC.
