Smith to compete at NCAA meet


Former Handley High School standout and University of Virginia senior Ayla Smith will compete in the 400-meter hurdles at this week's NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.

Smith is one of nine Cavaliers slated to compete in the NCAA meet, which runs from Wednesday through Saturday.

Smith will be in action on Wednesday night for the preliminary round. The 400-meter hurdles is slated to begin at 9:15 p.m.
