Rapid Redux took another step in his pursuit of Thoroughbred racing history on Friday night at Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races by winning his 18th straight race.
With the victory in the 1 1/-8th-mile allowance race, the 5-year-old Kentucky-born gelding is just one off the all-time modern record shared of 19 straight wins shared by Zenyatta and Pepper's Pride.
"It's exciting. We're very happy," owner Robert Cole Jr., said in a news release. "We're looking in the (condition) books and take a look up and down the east coast and see what's out there for him."
On Friday, Rapid Redux led wire-to-wire for a 4 3/4-length victory in 1:51.94 in the six-horse field. Jockey J.D. Acosta rode the Pleasantly Perfect-sired gelding to victory for Cole and trainer David Wells.
