(2:35 p.m.) WINCHESTER -- Justin Shane Slater, who is charged with a double homicide on June 10, was indicted Tuesday by a grand jury sitting in Winchester Circuit Court on charges that he assaulted two correctional officers and tried to escape.
Slater, who is being held at the Northwestern Regional Adult Detention Center in Frederick County, already faces capital murder charges in the slayings of his brother, Gregory Scott Slater, and ex-girlfriend, Kaleigh Marie Plamondon.
He was indicted Tuesday on charges that he attempted to escape from correctional officers John Nixon and Andy Baker on July 3 while at Winchester Medical Center. Slater was at the hospital for tests.
He faces two counts of assault and battery of a correctional officer, two counts of attempting to take a gun away from a correctional officer and one count of attempted escape.
