FRONT ROYAL -- Authorities are seeking the identity of a hit-and-run driver who struck a bicyclist Saturday at the intersection of East Criser and Remount roads.
A 50-year-old man from Alexandria was struck by the vehicle as he and a group of cyclists were heading south on Remount Road (U.S. 522), according to Cpl. Kevin Foltz, an investigator with the Front Royal Police Department.
The victim suffered minor injuries and refused treatment, Foltz said. The crash was reported at 12:12 p.m. and occurred when an elderly white female, who was headed south on Remount Road in a white car, tried to go around the cyclists while turning right onto Criser Road and struck the man in the front wheel of his bicycle, knocking him off, Foltz said.
The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information about the crash is asked to call the Front Royal Police Department at 635-2111.
