WINCHESTER -- City police are searching for someone they say robbed and assaulted a man at gunpoint Saturday night.
Authorities were notified several hours after the incident, which reportedly occurred at 9 p.m. in the 400 block of North Kent Street, Capt. Kelly Rice said Monday.
The complainant told police he was approached by a black man who brandished a firearm and demanded money, Rice said.
The suspect then began to search the victim and found a concealed weapon he was carrying. The suspect took the weapon and then assaulted the victim, Rice said.
Police were called about 11 p.m., according to an incident report.
The assailant was described as about 6 feet 2 inches tall, with short black hair and "distinct acne" on his face, Rice said. The man reportedly was wearing a black shirt and jeans at the time, she said.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Solvers at 665-TIPS, or detective Frank Myrtle at 545-4704.
