BERRYVILLE -- Plans for a new high school in Clarke County took another step forward this week.
Superintendent Michael F. Murphy submitted to town officials the preliminary site development plans for the new Clarke County High School, as well as an application for a special-use permit and the corresponding filing fees.
Members of the Berryville Area Development Authority reviewed the documents and set a public hearing for 5:30 p.m. Sept. 2 at the Berryville/Clarke County Government Center, 101 Chalmers Court. The purpose of the hearing is to review the preliminary site development plans and take citizen comments.
School Board member Jennifer Welliver will hold a town-hall style meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday at John H. Enders Fire Hall, 9 S. Buckmarsh St., to speak with constituents about the proposed new school.
The system is working to build the project on land near Va. 7-Business at Westwood Road and Mosby Boulevard in Berryville. The project is budgeted at $33 million but the total cost remains unknown, Murphy has said. Approximately $25 million remains in the budget.
