WOODSTOCK -- Shenandoah County's former chief jailer will seek the Board of Supervisors' District 4 seat as a write-in candidate in November's election, according to a Thursday press release.
Cynthia Miller Bailey, 43, "is a life-long Republican but will campaign as a conservative independent," the release says. Before retiring, Bailey, of Woodstock, held the rank of captain on the Shenandoah County Jail staff and supervised 27 employees, it says.
Bailey is the second challenger District 4 Supervisor Sharon Baroncelli will face in November. James Fitzsimmons, the former chairman of the Shenandoah County School Board, is running against Baroncelli as the Democratic nominee.
