WINCHESTER -- Frederick County Public Schools named Mark Croson its 2010 Teacher of the Year during its annual convocation Wednesday.
The George Mason University graduate teaches health and physical education at Evendale Elementary School, according to a press release. Croson taught in Arlington County from 1991 to 1996 before coming Frederick County. He also has taught at Bass-Hoover, Senseny Road, Redbud Run, Middletown and Armel elementary schools.
The teacher of the year receives a plaque, a gold ring with the school division's logo, a notebook computer and $3,000 to cover the cost of instructional materials, supplies or travel. Croson's name also goes on a plaque at the Frederick County Public Schools administration building.
