WOODSTOCK -- A heavy thunderstorm dumped about 5 inches of rain over the region Monday night, according to a bulletin from the National Weather Service in Sterling.
A flash flood warning was issued for Shenandoah County about 10 p.m. as a slow-moving thunderstorm made its way northeast. Woodstock got the heaviest pounding, according to the bulletin.
The rain caused some spot flooding over roadways in Shenandoah County, an emergency dispatcher said. One family was relocated by the American Red Cross because of basement flooding, the dispatcher said.
No major car crashes as a result of the storm had been reported in the region late Monday night.
Rain is forecast for the remainder of the week, with a 30 percent chance of rain today.
