EDINBURG -- A man wanted for manslaughter in Maryland was apprehended by a Shenandoah County Sheriff's Office deputy following a routine traffic stop, Maj. Scott Proctor said.
Barney Edward Smith, 27, of Laurel, Md., was arrested Aug. 14 after he was pulled over in the area of Senedo and Helsley roads in the Edinburg area for a minor traffic violation, Proctor said.
A Department of Motor Vehicles check revealed that he was a fugitive from Maryland. Proctor said the manslaughter charge involved a vehicle.
