WINCHESTER -- A local man sought by authorities for allegedly failing to register as a sex offender was found in Florida on Friday.
Agents with the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force located Charles William Pearson at approximately 2 p.m. at a hotel in Brooksville, according to James Galbreath, an investigator with the Frederick County Sheriff's Office. Marshals took Pearson into custody without incident, Galbreath said.
Pearson, 24, with a last known address of the Easy Living Trailer Court, in the 2400 block of Martinsburg Pike, failed to re-register as a sex offender with the state police, according to a news release from the Sheriff's Office.
A warrant for his arrest had been issued alleging he violated terms of his probation, which he received after his convictions in Frederick County Circuit Court in 2005 on four counts of committing carnal knowledge of a child, according to the sex offender registry.
Authorities believe Pearson had been living in the Brooksville area for approximately three months, the investigator said. Pearson now faces an additional charge of failing to register as a sex offender in Florida, according to Galbreath.
