*Judge again denies bond to former TV3 reporter

By Alex Bridges -- abridges@nvdaily.com

(2:30 p.m.) WINCHESTER -- A judge has again denied bond to a former TV reporter accused of committing sex crimes involving a 14-year-old girl.

Ryan P. O'Connor, 23, of 600 Pemberton Drive, Apt. 5, appeared in Winchester Juvenile Domestic Relations Court on Wednesday for a hearing on a motion to grant bond.

Judge Elizabeth Kellas Burton denied the motion and ordered that O'Connor remain held without bond at the Northwestern Regional Adult Detention Center.

O'Connor is charged with using a computer to solicit sex from a child under the age of 15 years old, attempting to take indecent liberties with the same alleged victim and four counts of possession of child pornography.

At a hearing the day after his arrest Sept. 2, O'Connor requested the judge set a "reasonable" bond in his case but Judge William Sharp said the nature of the charges carry a presumption to hold the defendant without bond. A motion to reduce bond was filed the next day, according to court documents.

O'Connor's attorney Paul Thomson argued for his motion at the hearing Wednesday, which lasted for more than an hour, a court clerk said.

Thomson already has filed a notice of appeal of the judge's bail determination. Such an appeal would be heard in Winchester Circuit Court but no date has been set.

Authorities allege O'Connor this spring used an online instant message system to contact a 14-year-old girl in Illinois and sent "lewd" photographs of himself to her. O'Connor worked as a reporter for TV3 Winchester and at IHOP at the time of his arrest a week ago. An executive with the ABC affiliate has said O'Connor no longer works for the station.

Burton also denied a request by TV3 to videotape O'Connor's court proceedings.

O'Connor is scheduled to appear in the court Wednesday at 1:30 p.m.

Get your facts straight NVD.

William Sharp was not the judge today. Elizabeth Kellas Burton was. Were you even there????

TV3 is an ABC affiliate, not NBC.

Should we believe anything you print?

This is shotty reporting.

WincReader00, where does it say that this was an NBC report? Also, genius, they are saying that Judge Sharp was at the first bond hearing and denied him. Hence the name of the story, Einstein, Judge again Denies Bond to TV3 reporter. I think you need to tell the NVD you are sorry. Also wouldn't hurt for you to take a college composition class!!

Good day to you sir or maam!

AND, a spelling lesson. Its not shotty its SHODDY.

It's shotty.
As in the cheap shots they took at Mr. Bradley
in the biased articles that were not news but a
personal attack on a man who was in no position
to defend him self.
I am glad I am not the only one who regards the
NVD as a joke.
Please feel free to defend your attempts at being
regarded as a worthwhile read.

Hank, if you are speaking of the same Mr. Bradley that shot his daughters boyfriend dead, then you need to reexamine your classification of "cheap shots". The guy killed a young man, admitted to it, and now you feel sorry for him? If the NVD is such a joke, why do you continue to read and post here? Are you just waiting for the next piece of gossip to come out? You are hanging on every word. You are like a trained monkey. HA HA!!!
