WOODSTOCK -- New fire lanes will be established at all three Shenandoah County Public Schools campuses this year.
According to a press release from the Shenandoah County Department of Fire and Rescue, access to and around school property has been a growing concern of fire and rescue agencies. To ensure that the fire lanes will be free of vehicles, an ordinance has been created to assist with enforcement.
The ordinance allows police to write a fire lane violation of up to $50 and tow the vehicle at the owner's expense.
The first day of school is Tuesday.
