WINCHESTER -- Frederick County authorities closed Airport Road for over an hour Tuesday afternoon after a gas leak was reported at Winchester Regional Airport.
Several fire and rescue crews were dispatched to the airport about 4:30 p.m. to a report of a leak in front of the airport terminal building.
Bud Payne, a flight line technician at the airport, said a construction crew hit a gas line. No injuries were reported, he said.
"It did not affect the operation of the airport at all," Payne said.
The leak was repaired by 6 p.m., he said. No injuries were reported.
Frederick County fire and rescue crews from Greenwood and Millwood Station responded with assistance from Clarke County's Boyce Volunteer Fire Company and Winchester's South End Fire Station.
