EDINBURG -- An Edinburg man was charged with several offenses following a Saturday night traffic stop.
Andrew Patrick Simmons, 19, of 3510 S. Ox Road, was pulled over for an equipment violation, Shenandoah County Sheriff's Maj. Scott Proctor said. He said the deputy detected an odor of alcohol and started a drunken driving investigation.
Proctor said the deputy asked Simmons if he had any weapons in the vehicle, and Simmons said no. However, a shotgun was found on the floorboard, so he was charged with obstruction of justice and carrying a concealed weapon, as well as underage possession of alcohol.
A possible game violation also is being investigated, Proctor said.
Simmons is scheduled to appear in Shenandoah County General District Court on Dec. 11.
