FRONT ROYAL -- Sentencing for a man who has pleaded guilty to charges that he held several people at gunpoint in February during a poker game, and took about $700 from one of the players, has again been postponed.
Ryan Thomas Deiter, 24, of 623 Belair Ave., Front Royal, pleaded guilty last month to one count each of robbery, use of a firearm while committing a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He also pleaded guilty to an unrelated credit card fraud charge stemming from an incident that occurred nearly two years ago.
According to prosecutors, several people were gathered for a card game at 407 W. 12th St. when Deiter, wearing a white mask, entered the residence, flashed what appeared to be a shotgun and ordered everyone to the ground. Deiter then grabbed Jeff Lewis and forced him outside of the residence.
After Deiter's sentencing was delayed on Aug. 23, his attorney, Ilona L. Beatty, again asked Judge Dennis L. Hupp at a hearing on Tuesday to move the sentencing to Sept. 14, according to online court records.
