Man indicted on multiple charges of child pornography

By Ben Orcutt -- borcutt@nvdaily.com

FRONT ROYAL -- On Monday, a Warren County Circuit Court grand jury indicted a former county man on 12 counts of possession of child pornography and two counts of unlawfully photographing a minor female.

Gregory L. Nooner, 30, of 11290 Lady Jane Loop, Apt. 302, Manassas, is free after posting a $14,000 secure bond pending arraignment and pretrial motions on Nov. 1.
The videotaping charges are for Oct. 5, 2007, and June 25, 2008, and the remaining 12 charges list Dec. 10 as the offense date. Nooner is represented by Winchester defense attorney David L. Hensley.

A complaint form on file in court records indicates that Nooner photographed a juvenile female under the age of 18.

"On Dec. 9, 2008, [juvenile] was babysitting for the accused when she found pictures of herself on Gregory Nooner's computer with her breast exposed," says Christopher A. Williams, an investigator with the Warren County Sheriff's Office. "The picture shows [the juvenile] asleep on the couch with a hand visible pulling [her] shirt down exposing her breast for a photograph."

Williams says a date stamp on the photos indicates that four of them were taken on Oct. 5, 2007, and one photo was taken on June 25, 2008.

"On 12/10/2008, I obtained a search warrant to seize the computer of Gregory Nooner and the search warrant was executed that day," Williams says. "Gregory Nooner admitted that he took the pictures of [the girl] and he admitted there was a significant amount of child pornography on the computer, in addition to the pictures he took of [the girl]."

Nooner lived in the Shenandoah Farms area of Warren County, according to Williams. Nooner was not arrested until March 18 in Prince William County, Williams has said, with the delay due to a backlog at the state forensic lab.

Monday's grand jury also returned indictments charging:

• Loretta Lynn Embrey, 36, of 112 E. Main St. No. 2, Front Royal, with grand larceny of a 1991 Cadillac from Wanda Vincent on June 27. Embrey remains free after posting $5,000 unsecured bond pending further proceedings on Oct. 25.

• Matthew Joseph Embrey, 21, of 112 E. Main St. No. 2, Front Royal, with grand larceny of a 1991 Cadillac from Wanda Vincent on June 27. He is being held without bond in the Warren County Jail on a probation violation pending further proceedings.

• Rex Allen Griffith Jr., 43, of 24 A Stonewall Drive, Front Royal, with separate counts of distribution of hydromorphone on June 24 and 25, and separate counts of distribution of methylphenidate on June 24 and 25. Although a $5,000 unsecured bond has been set on these charges, he is being held in the Warren County Jail on other charges without bond pending arraignment and pretrial motions Nov. 1.
