WINCHESTER -- Work on John Handley High School received state honors last week.
The school won the Platinum Design Award for Renovation and the People's Choice Award at the 2010 Virginia School Boards Association's Exhibition of School Architecture. Awards were presented during the organization's annual convention held Nov. 17-19, according to a news release issued by Winchester Public Schools.
Charlottesville-based VMDO Architects and Robert W. Moje received the honor as the project's design firm, the release states.
Winning projects were chosen from 16 entries submitted by nine architectural firms in the areas of new construction, renovation and adaptive use of existing space.
