STEPHENS CITY -- A town woman died in a single-vehicle crash early Friday morning, according to state police.
Alcohol may have factored into the crash that killed Carrie Elizabeth Lee, 31, of Stephens City, state police Sgt. F.L. Tyler, a public information officer for the agency, said Friday afternoon.
The report by the investigating officer, Trooper E.E. Mason, indicated Lee did not have on a seat belt when the crash occurred shortly before 2 a.m., Tyler said.
Lee was driving a 1999 Chrysler Town and Country minivan south on Main Street in Stephens City when she ran off the road, overcorrected, then veered to the left, Tyler said. The van went through a fence and then struck a tree near Theater Lane, Tyler added.
The driver died at the scene from injuries she sustained in the crash, according to Tyler.
No other people or vehicles were involved in the crash, he said.
