Blaze damages house in Warren

FRONT ROYAL -- A fire early Tuesday morning caused extensive damage to an unoccupied home in the Limeton area of Warren County.

Warren County Department of Fire and Rescue crews answered a call about a fire alarm at 4 Deer Run Circle at 7:28 a.m., according to a news release from Fire Chief Richard Mabie.

The owner of the two-story, single-family home also called, and said the fire was in the rear of the structure, according to the release.

Flames were visible at the rear of the house and up to the roof when crews arrived. Firefighters were able to contain the blaze to the rear of the house, and fire damage was limited to first-floor rooms, including the kitchen, family room and foyer. The rest of the house was heavily damaged by smoke and heat.

Total damage is estimated at $250,000, the release says.

The fire was under control by 7:55 a.m. and the scene was cleared by noon.
The house was not occupied at the time of the fire and no one was hurt.

The owner was treated at the scene for "anxiety and shock," but declined to be taken to the hospital, according to the release.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
