Delivery holdups could be linked

WINCHESTER -- City police say a pizza delivery driver was robbed at knifepoint in the city Tuesday night, and the incident appears similar to one that occurred Sunday night.

The robber was described as possibly a white male, approximately 6 feet tall, and last seen wearing a gray, hooded sweatshirt, according to Winchester police Sgt. Frank Myrtle,. He wore a mask to conceal his face, Myrtle said.

Officers responded to a call at 10:45 p.m. from 2516 Wilson Blvd. for a robbery, Myrtle said.

A driver went to the address to deliver a pizza, and upon his arrival a man approached while carrying a knife, Myrtle said. The man made demands and then fled the scene with the pizza and cash, according to Myrtle.

The male victim reported no injuries, Myrtle said.

A police dog was unable to track the man, Myrtle said.

The incident bears similarities to a robbery reported Sunday night in which a suspect wielding a knife took a pizza and cash from a driver. The robbery took place at the same address, according to police.

The matter remains under investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to contact city police at 662-4131 or Crime Solvers at 665-TIPS.
