WINCHESTER -- Fire officials are investigating a blaze that damaged a Frederick County home early Monday morning.
Emergency dispatchers received a call shortly before 3:20 a.m. for a structure fire in the 1900 block of Wardensville Grade.
Several volunteer fire and rescue companies responded to battle the blaze. The last crew left the scene at about 8:15 a.m.
The owners, Mike and Donna Cooper, live in the home with their son Jeremy, Mike Cooper said.
Cooper said he woke up twice thinking that he smelled smoke and the second time found that the attic was on fire.
The Red Cross has offered to arrange for the family to stay in a hotel, Cooper said.
