Local holiday closing slated

The following is a list of closings in the Northern Shenandoah Valley in observance of Christmas:

• Federal offices: Closed Friday.

• State offices: Closed Thursday and Friday.

• County government offices: Closed Thursday and Friday.

• Winchester city offices: Closed Friday and Monday.

• Town offices: Closed Thursday and Friday.

• Courts: Closed Thursday and Friday.

• Post offices: Closing at noon on Friday; closed Saturday.

• Public schools: Closed through Jan. 2, except Clarke County, which is closed through Jan. 3.

• Department of Motor Vehicles: Closed Thursday through Saturday.

• Libraries: Closed Thursday through Saturday.

• ABC stores: Closed Saturday.

• Banks: Closing at noon Friday; closed Saturday.

• Winchester Transit System: Closed Friday through Monday.

• Warren County Active Living Center: Closed Friday.

• Sanitation: Shenandoah County landfill, closed Saturday; in Front Royal Thursday's and Friday's trash and recycling pickups moved to Wednesday and Tuesday, respectively;
Warren County trash transfer station and compactor sites closed Saturday; in Winchester, Friday's refuse collection moved to Wednesday and yard waste collection is canceled; Frederick County landfill, closing at noon Friday and closed Saturday, Frederick convenience sites closed Saturday.
