Robber of Union Bank still at large

WINCHESTER -- Authorities have released a more detailed description of a car possibly involved in a Wednesday armed bank robbery in Frederick County.

A suspect displayed a handgun and robbed a teller in Union First Market Bank, 1095 Millwood Pike, shortly before 5 p.m., according to information from the Frederick County Sheriff's Office. Witnesses described the suspect as a white man in his 20s or 30s; 5 feet 11 inches to 6 feet 1 inch tall; with a medium build and light, brown hair.

A vehicle seen leaving the bank may have been involved in the heist, according to Maj. Robert "Robbie" Eckman, of the Sheriff's Office.

The vehicle has been described as a 2008-2010, maroon Honda Accord V6, four-door sedan. The vehicle is unique in that it features chrome door handles, indicative of the V6 model, as well as a moon roof visor and side body moldings, according to a release issued by Eckman on Friday afternoon.

The vehicle also had chrome trim around the door windows and had no front license plate, the release states.

Not many of this type of vehicle in this color feature these accessories, according to the release.

The Sheriff's Office and the FBI Safe Streets Task Force are investigating the robbery.
Anyone with information about a vehicle similar to the one described should contact Investigator David Ellinger, of the Sheriff's Office, at 662-6162, or Crime Solvers at 665-TIPS (8477) to remain anonymous and be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
