WINCHESTER -- A man robbed the Union First Market Bank branch on Millwood Avenue at gunpoint Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.
The robbery at the bank branch at 1095 Millwood Pike was reported at 4:54 p.m., according to Capt. John Heflin of the Frederick County Sheriff's Office.
The man entered the bank, showed a gun and demanded cash, Heflin said. The teller gave him an undisclosed amount of money, and the man fled on foot through the parking lot of the Chinatown Restaurant next door, he said.
The robber was last seen leaving the parking lot of the nearby Aloft Hotel in a maroon Honda that was parked there.
The robber was described as a white man wearing a baseball cap, a long dark-colored coat with a hood that covered the cap and a mask covering his face.
Deputies were still at the scene and interviewing witnesses at 6 p.m.
