HARRISONBURG -- Former Winchester Commonwealth's Attorney Paul H. Thomson and his assistant were indicted on evidence tampering and drug charges Thursday by a U.S. District Court grand jury.

Thomson, 56, and his assitant, Nannette S. Boden, 35, were indicted on one count each of conspiracy to tamper with evidence, evidence tampering and altering documents to influence a federal investigation, according to the U.S. attorney's office.

Thomson also is charged with two counts of witness tampering and one count of cocaine possession. Boden faces one count of cocaine distribution.

Earlier on Thursday, Winchester Circuit Judge John Wetsel Jr. stated in a letter that he would postpone all of Thomson's court proceedings in Winchester and Clarke County circuit courts until after Feb. 21.

Thomson and Boden were arrested Jan. 10 and taken to separate jails. Both have since posted bond.
