WINCHESTER -- Police are looking for a pickup suspected of striking a parked vehicle and a police cruiser downtown Thursday afternoon.
Officers responded at 3:20 p.m. to a report of a 2005 Hyundai SUV parked at South Braddock and Cecil streets, which appeared to have been struck by another vehicle, according to Sgt. Frank Myrtle, of the Winchester Police Department. Witnesses told officers the vehicle was last seen north on Braddock Street.
Approximately 40 minutes later while officers continued their investigation a pickup, described as "electric blue," traveled by the scene, Myrtle said. The pickup then struck the driver's side of a police cruiser parked in the area and the driver left the area, last seen heading east on Cork Street, according to Myrtle.
No one was in either the SUV or the cruiser when they were struck, Myrtle said.
The pickup has a Virginia license plate SXU-5347, according to police. The suspect vehicle likely has damage on its passenger side, Myrtle said.
Anyone with information about the incident may call the police department at 662-4131 or Crimesolvers at 665-TIPS.
