FRONT ROYAL -- The Blue Ridge Arts Council will host an artist residency program with elementary pupils this month in conjunction with the county's anniversary celebration.
Local artist Kelly Walker will conduct a visual arts residency in each of the five Warren County elementary schools through March 31, according to a news release from Executive Director Kym Crump.
Art instructors have selected 16 fourth-graders to participate. The residency will last for four days at each school. Pupils will create original artwork depicting traditional scenes of the county. The individual pieces will be framed to make a Warren County collage.
The final artwork also will be displayed at the county Community Center from May 16 to July 31 in honor of Warren County's 175th anniversary.
