WINCHESTER -- A West Virginia woman suffered serious injuries after falling from a hospital parking garage in the city early Wednesday morning.

Authorities do not suspect foul play in the incident but continue to investigate whether the fall happened intentionally or by accident, according to Sgt. Frank Myrtle, of the Winchester Police Department.

The 22-year-old woman from Harpers Ferry fell possibly from the second level of the parking garage on Campus Boulevard at Winchester Medical Center, Myrtle said. Police responded to the call shortly after 2 a.m., he said.

The victim sustained serious injuries and was admitted to the hospital at that time, he said. Police would not release the identity of the victim, who Myrtle said does not work at the hospital.

Investigators have questioned a man who was with the woman at the time of the incident, according to Myrtle.

Myrtle said Wednesday afternoon he did not know if the woman remained hospitalized.
