BENTONVILLE -- A Warren County ambulance crashed head-on into another vehicle while traveling to the scene of a two-motorcycle crash on U.S. 340 Sunday afternoon.
Two motorcycles crashed on U.S. 340 near Dungadin, according to a news release from Warren County Fire Chief Richard Mabie. Emergency services personnel responded to the call at 12:28 p.m. and were on the scene by 12:39 p.m.
The motorcyclists were flown to Winchester Medical Center, according to the release.
Mabie said the motorcycles "slid on the pavement," which was wet from the area's recent heavy rainfalls.
The South Warren Station 3 ambulance was responding to the crash scene when it "failed to negotiate a turn and collided head on with another vehicle," according to the release. The ambulance was driven by volunteer firefighter Allan Brockway.
The unidentified driver and passenger of the vehicle were taken to Warren Memorial Hospital and treated for minor injuries. Brockway, who was also treated for minor injuries and released, was the only person in the ambulance at the time, Mabie said.
State police are investigating both incidents, Mabie said.
