*Former teacher to spend year in jail for probation violation

WINCHESTER -- A former high school teacher convicted of having sex with a minor student must spend a year in jail for violating his probation.

Judge John E. Wetsel Jr. found Adrian A. Ellis violated the terms of his supervised probation and revoked a year of a previously suspended sentence.

Wetsel sided with Commonwealth's Attorney Alex Iden who argued Ellis had sexually explicit material, left the area and failed to register a screen name for an Internet dating site with the Virgina State Police.

Iden asked Wetsel to revoked two years of Ellis' suspended time. Ellis' attorney asked the judge to revoke no more than 90 days.
