*Police aiding in family's search for missing Woodstock woman

By J.R. Williams -- jrwilliams@nvdaily.com

A Woodstock family is asking for the community's help to find their missing daughter, Katalina Mikitarian, 21, who was last seen boarding a bus in Richmond on May 9.

Mikitarian was dropped off at the Richmond Greyhound station at 7:30 p.m. after being unexpectedly sent home from a program she was attending, said her mother, Lisa Mikitarian.

The ticket was for a trip to Charlottesville -- the closest station to Woodstock. The family got word later that night that she was coming home and sent someone to the station, but Mikitarian couldn't be found.

She had little money, no cell phone and was in an emotional state, her mother said Sunday.

Surveillance video shows someone fitting her description boarding the bus in Richmond. It's unclear whether she got off in Charlottesville, but volunteers papered the area surrounding that station with fliers Saturday.

The family is working with Charlottesville and Richmond police.

Mikitarian is 5 feet 5 inches tall. She weighs 130 pounds and wears glasses. She was last seen wearing jeans, a brown blouse and flats. She is friendly and could have befriended someone on the bus, her mother said.

"Our family is completely overwhelmed with the outpouring of support that we have received," she said.

To contact the Mikitarian family, call 540-335-5765. To reach Charlottesville police, call 434-970-3280. For more information, search facebook.com for "Finding Katalina."
