FRONT ROYAL -- The Virginia Department of Transportation has set a schedule for a planned Rockland Road area speed study. Speed and traffic operations studies will be conducted on four main sites, including various stretches of Va. 661, Va. 624 and Va. 658.
The fourth study will look at the four-way stop at the Va. 661-Va. 658 intersection.
Residents have requested lowering speed limits in the mostly rural neighborhoods to decrease traffic flow, reduce potential road hazards and ensure driver and pedestrian safety.
VDOT expects to complete the first study by the end of June. Each study will take approximately 60 days.
