WINCHESTER -- The Frederick County Sheriff's Office has identified the man whose body was found this week in a vehicle parked in the Stonewall Plaza Shopping Center.

However, it's still not known how Paul Raymond Thomas, 48, of Jefferson, Md., died, according to a news release from the Sheriff's Office. It says the death remains under investigation while toxicology and blood test results are pending.

A man eating his lunch in the shopping center parking lot on Monday noticed a strong smell coming from a 2001 Ford Expedition, but attributed it to a nearby Dumpster, the release says.

It says the man, who called the police, saw that the SUV's registration had expired several months ago.
