WOODSTOCK -- Two people were sent to separate hospitals after a crash north of Woodstock on U.S. 11 Tuesday morning.
At 11:50 a.m., about a half-mile north of Jess Sine Road, the vehicles collided, shutting down both lanes for about 30 minutes, said state police spokesman Sgt. F.L. Tyler. He said Gary A. Richard, 50, of Moorefield, W.Va., was traveling south in a 2004 Pontiac Vibe and turned left in front of a northbound 1995 Chevrolet pickup, driven by Carrie M. Garber, 28, of New Market. Garber's truck struck Richard's vehicle.
Richard was flown to the University of Virginia Medical Center, while Garber was transported to the Winchester Medical Center, Tyler said. The extent of their injuries was unknown.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts, and an 8-month-old baby in Garber's vehicle was unhurt. The child was properly secured, Tyler said.
The crash is under investigation by Trooper D.A. Dean.
