Daily Staff Report

BERRYVILLE -- A single-vehicle crash in Clarke County late Thursday morning sent a Winchester man to a Fairfax hospital.

A 2011 Volkswagen Jetta traveling north on U.S. 340 shortly before noon veered off the road to the right and went into a ditch approximately sixth-tenths of a mile south of Va. 611, according to state police spokesman Sgt. F.L. Tyler. The car struck a utility pole and then a fence, Tyler said.

Emergency workers from John H. Enders and Blue Ridge volunteer fire companies responded. The 42-year-old driver, Clinton Jordan, was transported by medical helicopter to Inova Fairfax Hospital, Tyler said. Jordan's condition Thursday afternoon was not known, according to Tyler.

The Clarke County Sheriff's Office and Berryville police assisted at the crash scene.

Trooper J.F. Williams responded to the crash, which remains under investigation. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash, Tyler said. But whether the driver wore a seat belt at the time of the crash has not been determined, according to Tyler.

Not that this really matters.. but the article states that a 2011 Jetta was the vehicle involved in this accident; the photo of the vehicle is not a 2011 VW Jetta? :)

actually that is a jetta, but it is not a 2011
