*Fire damages home in Front Royal

FRONT ROYAL -- Three people, including a 5-year-old boy, were displaced from their house after a fire started shortly before 1 p.m. Monday.

A number of town and Warren County fire crews, as well as a ladder truck from Strasburg, responded to 44 Church St., the two-story house where the boy lives with his grandparents. They were not home at the time the call came in to the dispatch center.

Capt. Raymond Cross, of the Warren County Department of Fire and Rescue, said firefighters found heavy smoke when they arrived and discovered the fire spreading inside in the second level and attic of the structure. The blaze's cause is under investigation, but it appears to have started between the first and second floors.
