*Mitchell to retire as Shenandoah County's chief prosecutor

WOODSTOCK -- Shenandoah County Commonwealth's Attorney Albert T. Mitchell will be retiring at the end of the year.
Mitchell, 68, said he will finish his current term and not be seeking re-election in November. He was first elected commonwealth's attorney in 1999, the same year he was appointed to the post.
Mitchell served as an assistant commonwealth's attorney beginning in 1990, and was in private practice before that. He was also commonwealth's attorney when it was a part-time position from 1972-76.
