WOODSTOCK -- The Shenandoah County Sheriff's Office has confirmed the identity of the 8-year-old Winchester boy killed in a camping incident Sunday morning as Matthew Alexander Crim.

Maj. Scott Proctor said no foul play is suspected and that Matthew's death was a "tragic accident."

A large piece of a tree fell six feet onto the boy's tent around 4 a.m. Sunday in the Deer Rapids subdivision, Sheriff Timothy C. Carter has said. Matthew was the only person inside.

The boy was declared dead at Shenandoah Memorial Hospital more than an hour later. Storms had passed through the area at the time of the incident.
