FRONT ROYAL-- The Martin's grocery store in Front Royal opened its new community room on Wednesday.

The room was part of a four-month renovation that included a new beer cooler room in the back of the store and other remodeling.

The community room is available as a meeting space for events, business meetings, parties and similar gatherings.

It is outfitted with state-of-the-art audio and visual equipment, as well as tables, chairs and white boards. The room also has wireless Internet service.

Nonprofit organizations with 501(c)3 status can use the room free of charge, civic groups can rent it for $50 for four hours or $75 for eight hours. For-profit businesses can use it for a fee of $100 for four hours and $150 for eight.

A catering option is also available through Martin's for an additional fee that varies based on food and service options. Martin's also offers an food option that provides $10 Martin's gift cards to meeting attendees.

"It's a great alternative to catering for business meetings when they don't want to do full catering, but also don't want the employees to leave for lunch," said Martin's community center coordinator Rebecca Matchett. "People can just go get whatever they want and then come back."

According to Matchett, there has already been a lot of local interest in the community room. Toastmaster's, a nonprofit that focuses on improving public speaking and leadership skills, has already booked the room two days a month for an entire year.

A yoga instructor has rented the space for classes on Sunday mornings. There has also been interest from a local Girl Scout troop.

The community room can accommodate 25 to 30 people comfortably, and is available from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

"We wanted to give back to the community," said store manager Jon Petrucci.
For more information, or to reserve the community room, call Rebecca Matchett at 635-2249.
