STRASBURG -- Two people were taken to hospitals -- one by helicopter -- following a three-vehicle crash on Va. 55 (John Marshall Highway) just north of Va. 633 (Red Bud Road) Thursday afternoon.
A 1994 Plymouth van was stopped on Va. 55 west to make a left turn into a driveway about one-tenth mile north of Va. 633 when it was clipped by a 2008 Honda Pilot driven by Anna K. Tweedie, 30, of Woodbridge, state police spokesman Sgt. F.L. "Les" Tyler said.
The Pilot then went into the eastbound lane and struck a 2004 Jeep Cherokee head on, he said. The driver of the Jeep, Lynn W. Tevalt, 58, of Middletown, was flown to INOVA Fairfax, Tyler said.
Tweedie was taken to Winchester Medical Center. Tyler said she was charged with reckless driving.
