*Woman, child hurt in Va. 37 crash
By Alex Bridges -- email@example.com
WINCHESTER -- A motor-vehicle crash on Va. 37 sent a woman and an infant to the hospital Friday morning.
Caroline Elizabeth Dodson, 33, of Winchester was driving a 1989 Cadillac sedan in the right lane on Va. 37 southbound at 11:40 a.m., according to Sgt. F.L. Tyler, public information officer for the Virginia State Police.
Dodson attempted to change lanes to the left but nearly struck a 2006 Toyota Rav4 SUV driven by Sara Elizabeth Lee, 33, of Stephens City, Tyler said. Lee steered the Toyota off the road to avoid the Cadillac then tried to pull her vehicle back onto the highway but overcorrected, according to Tyler. The Toyota then rolled over and came to rest in the median.
Emergency rescue workers responded and took Lee and a 6-month-old infant riding in a child safety seat to Winchester Medical Center where they were treated and released, Tyler said. Neither Dodson nor an 11-year-old female passenger in the Cadillac reported injuries, according to Tyler.
The vehicles did not make contact during the incident, Tyler said. Rescue workers closed at least one lane in each direction to traffic then eventually reopened the highway.
