WINCHESTER -- Brewbaker's, the popular restaurant on the city's downtown pedestrian mall, is for sale.
After owning it for about 12 years, Bob and Dawn Sayre have listed it for $2.2 million.
Conrad Koneczny, managing director at Sperry Van Ness, which has the listing on the property, confirmed that it is assessed at $662,300.
According to the posting, the 11,570-square-foot space was built in 1900 and brought in gross sales of about $1.6 million last year.
In addition to buying the property, the Sayres made two separate purchases to add on to the space. The most recent expansion was a party and banquet area, which will be ready for use in the fall. The couple never finished the second and third floors, which could be used for apartments.
A native of New York, Bob Sayre ventured to Winchester in 1995 to open a Pargo's restaurant. Four years later, after a stop in Charlottesville, he returned to Winchester to reopen the Pargo's after it burned down. There, he met his wife, and the couple decided to open their own venture.
After selling Brewbaker's, the Sayres hope to move to the Outer Banks in North Carolina, where they bought a home five years ago.
