Vandals shooting out vehicle windows and smashing mailboxes struck dozens of southern Shenandoah County residents this weekend.
Shortly after midnight Friday, a man in the 3000 block of Senedo Road in Quicksburg discovered his car window had been shot out, Shenandoah County Sheriff's Capt. Tom Hodges said. He said seven more complaints of gunshots came in overnight from the Quicksburg, Forestville and New Market areas.
Overnight Saturday, 29 mailboxes were damaged in the same general area, Hodges said.
"It's unfortunate that these types of things happen, but we will investigate," he said. "We will do our best to find out who did it."
In one case involving the shot vehicles, the victim reported seeing a small vehicle with square headlights, Hodges said.
Anyone with any information may call the Sheriff's Office at 459-6100.
