MT. JACKSON -- A 55-year-old woman was charged with animal neglect after multiple animals were found in poor conditions at her home, according to the Shenandoah County Sheriff's Office.
Cleo Rose Leonard, of 136 S. Maple Road, Mt. Jackson, was charged Aug. 15 after a deputy was called to her house on another matter, Capt. Tom Hodges said.
He said the deputy noticed a great deal of animal feces in the home, three kittens in poor condition, and more cats and two dogs that didn't appear to have enough food or water.
Leonard is scheduled to appear in Shenandoah County General District Court on Sept. 23.
